Understanding NIS2: CCB Webinar

Back in October, I attended the “All you need to know about NIS2” session by the Centre for Cybersecurity Belgium (CCB), and it was incredibly informative. The new NIS2 Law, which came into force in April 2024, expands cybersecurity requirements to over 2,500 organizations in Belgium that provide critical services—think energy, healthcare, ICT, public administration, and digital infrastructure.

The CCB highlighted that organizations now need to implement stronger security policies, ensure management takes responsibility for cybersecurity, and report major incidents within strict deadlines. They also adressed the importance of managing supply chain risks and using frameworks like CyberFundamentals to guide compliance.

At the end of the presentations, the session featured a Q&A segment organized into multiple breakout rooms, each dedicated to a specific topic. This gave everyone—from organizations and professionals to students like me—a chance to ask questions and get practical advice. I found it very helpful to hear the kinds of questions other organizations had and to listen to the clear, straightforward answers from the CCB experts.

Overall, a session well worth attending to know more about NIS2!
